Time for a career change?
It’s the start of a new year, we all want to make changes to better ourselves. Usually this focus is?centered around our personal lives, but why limit this? Why not make changes to your working life and make a career change?
We at MJB want to push some buttons and ask why don’t more of us take risks in our?professional lives and opt for a career change.?Yes we are familiar with the old saying the grass isn’t always greener on the other side, but why?not take the risk? Save yourself the regrets when you reach your old age, what if you finally find?something you are passionate about, something that makes you want to get out of bed in the?morning for, wouldn’t it all be worth it??Of course it would.
However before you hand in your notice, we have compiled some advice for those brave souls?willing to take the plunge and look for a new career.
Keep up to date with the news and even social media, (follow relevant accounts etc). Join?subject/topic specific forums to build your contacts.
Make use of Linkedin profiles, send friend requests to people in the field you want to make the?move to. Get to know the ins and outs, submerge your brain in what the career actually entails.
Try before you buy:
If possible join a workshop, better still do some voluntary work, see if you are suited for the?jump.
As your knowledge increases become more active, infact share your gained knowledge in order?to increase confidence.
After following through with your in-depth research, ask yourself is this what you want? Can you?picture yourself doing this, not only going through the motions but actually enjoying it? if the?answer to these questions is yes, then what’s stopping you??Sometimes change is needed, even necessary.
